How to track your wedding budget and expenses

A wedding budget is really just a list of expenses with a running total. The hard part is keeping the list honest — and in one place — for twelve months.

How to track your wedding expenses

  1. Open your wedding and go to the expenses page.
  2. Add your first expense — the venue deposit, the photographer, the dress.
  3. Give each expense a category so the totals tell a story: venue, catering, music, attire.
  4. Log payments as they happen; the running total updates itself.
  5. Check the category breakdown to spot where the budget is drifting.

Tip: Log it the day you pay it

The budget is only as good as its newest row. A deposit forgotten for a week is a surprise at the end of the month.

The biggest number in the budget is usually the guest count — every head moves catering and seating together.

Once the numbers are real, the rest of the planning follows: the schedule you set, the playlist you build, the vendors you book.
